At this moment, January 21, 2022, it is located in the Región de Murcia.
In a few days, the almond trees will start to bloom, at which point the hive will begin to grow; colloquially, beekeepers say at this moment that the hive is "warming up." The brood chamber, which is the hive seen in the video, will expand to prepare for the honey flow, at which point we will start placing honey supers, boxes that we put on top of the brood chamber to store more honey.
In this photo, you can see the hive alongside other hives on the mountainside, protected from the wind.
When the hive is full, nature will do its work by pushing the bees to swarm, which is the natural way for bees to create new colonies. At that moment, we will take the opportunity to place part of the current colony into another hive. This is what we call a swarm.
